Shoshana Leanse

Candlesticks

June 15, 2018

During her class with Professor Grenadir, Leanse built the stretcher frames, stretched unprimed canvas around it and then experimented with the acrylic stain process. As she applied layers of wet paint over previous layers, she saw a rough image of candlesticks appear.  She developed the shapes into the form of candlesticks and added the Hebrew words from the prayer Jewish women make over their candles on Friday night.

“I have a better understanding of techniques and color theory,” said Leanse about what she’s learned during her art classes. “I’ve been able to develop my own style.”
