Patti Bottino-Bravo has over 30 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist providing evaluations and treatment for children and adults in educational, outpatient, rehabilitation, and home-care settings. She earned her B.A. in Speech Communication, and M.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Brooklyn College. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and has received 11 ASHA ACE Awards for continuing education.
Ms. Bottino-Bravo has been with the Speech and Communication department at Touro University-Lander Campus since 2007. She teaches undergraduate courses in Normal Speech and Language Development, Psycholinguistics, Speech Path I and II, Senior Seminar and Phonetics. In addition to teaching the undergraduate pre-requisite courses listed above, she teaches Fundamentals of Speech, the required public speaking course at Touro College.
Recently retired from the New York City Department of Education, Patti is the CEO and Owner of Sounds Good Communication, LLC where she provides professional development for Reading Practitioners - teachers, tutors, and parents to help demonstrate how the understanding of speech sound production, coarticulation, and the International Phonetic Alphabet can be used to help developing and struggling readers “see the sounds” their mouths are making when pronouncing, reading, and spelling words (for example, the eight sounds the letter “t” makes in various contexts.) She recently began teaching a refresher course on Phonetics and the IPA to SLPs interested in honing their transcription and clinical skills.
In addition to her business and academic career, Ms. Bottino-Bravo is a vocalist/cabaret performer and has appeared locally, nationally, and internationally in various venues including the Metropolitan Room, Don’t Tell Mama, the Laurie Beechman Theater in NYC, Davenports, in Chicago, IL, and the Montparnasse Piano Room in Mykonos, Greece. She concluded a run of her show ACT 3: When Retiring From the Day Job Has Some Unexpected Results in December 2023.
