Leon Kaganovskiy is an Associate Professor at the Mathematics Department of Touro, where he has been since 2010. He received a M.S. in Theoretical Physics from Kharkov State University (Ukraine) and MS and PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI, USA) in 2006. From 2006 to 2010, he worked as a Computational Science Assistant Professor at the New College of Florida.
He published in the field of Numerical Methods for Fluid Mechanics, developing new techniques for computational representation of vortex sheets and rings emitted by wing tips of airplanes, as well as in the field of Numerical Simulations of Micromagnetic Phenomena using OOMMF codes developed at NIST. His most recent interest is in a broad field of Applied Statistics. He developed new courses in Bio-Statistics with R, Statistics for Actuaries with R, and Business Analytics with R. He teaches Statistics research courses at the Speech Therapy Master's Program at Touro College. He collaborated with Prof. Kidron from the Psychology Department to produce an article, “Empathizing-Systemizing cognitive styles: effects of gender and academic degree,” and with Prof. Lowman from the California Academy of Sciences on the statistical aspect of her Canopy Herbivory research.
