You will first apply to LAS. Once accepted at LAS, you can apply to the Dental Honors Pathway (DHP) by filling out the application and emailing the completed application to LAS Admissions. Below are the requirements for admission to the DHP.
Application Deadline
Who Can Apply
- High school seniors.
- During your post-high school study in yeshivot in Israel or elsewhere.
- High school graduates who have not enrolled as full-time students at a Touro undergraduate school, or at any other regionally accredited college or university.
Academic Requirements
In order to be considered for the Dental Honors Pathway applicants must meet all the requirements below. They differ slightly if you are applying to 3+4 or 4+4 track:
3+4 track applicants must have:
- ACT score of 30 OR SAT score (math/verbal) of 1350 (SAT super-scores - combining the highest sections from separate tests - are accepted in order to meet this threshold).
- Un-weighted high school GPA of 3.6.
- Evidence of outstanding academic potential such as Advanced Placement courses with scores of 4.0 or higher.
Students with credits earned in Israel are not eligible for the 3+4 pathway.
4+4 track applicants must have:
- ACT score of 31 OR SAT score (math/verbal) of 1400 (SAT super-scores – combining highest sections from separate tests – are accepted in order to meet this threshold).
- Unweighted high school GPA of 3.7.
If you meet these academic standards and apply to the Dental Honors Pathway, after admission to Touro you will be interviewed by a member of the Touro College of Dental Medicine’s Committee.
What You Will Need as Part of Your Application
Letters of Recommendation
- You will need to submit three (3) letters of recommendation.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation attesting to the maturity and qualifications of the applicant for the 3+4 Dental Honors Pathway, including the applicant's capability in understanding and applying scientific information.
- One (1) letter of recommendation written by a dentist familiar with the applicant.
- All recommendation letters must be submitted on your behalf directly by your references (not you) to Jennifer Berkowitz in admissions.
An Essay
Your essay should not exceed 5,300 characters. It must be written by you, the applicant, and discuss why you are interested in a career in dentistry and enrollment in the 3+4 Dental Honors Pathway.
Applications to the Dental Honors Pathway will be reviewed after your acceptance to Touro. Any application that meets requirements will need to interview with the TCDM Admissions, Promotions, and Mentoring Committee.
