A Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) is medical training with a focus on holistic patient care, sometimes using manual manipulations. The Osteopathic Medicine Honors Track is designed for students of exceptional ability and maturity who know they would like to become a physician while still in high school or while studying in Israel. Acceptance into the program reserves a spot in Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM).

What You Will Need to Apply to Integrated Osteopathic Medicine Honors Track:

  • A completed Integrated Honors Program application‌.
  • A high school grade average of 90% or better.
  • SAT score 1250/1600 or 1900/2400, with a minimum of 600 in each of the three sections, or an ACT score of 28.
  • Acceptance to LAS.
  • A formal interview with the Office of the Dean of your Touro undergraduate school.
  • A subsequent letter of recommendation from the Dean.

Notification of acceptance will be provided by the TouroCOM admissions department.

How to Retain Your Spot at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine

Undergraduate Touro students who are on the Integrated Osteopathic Medicine Honors Track must maintain the following standards in order to be further considered for a spot at TouroCOM:

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher in all coursework at a campus.
  • Science GPA of 3.6 or higher for coursework at a Touro University campus.
  • Participate in ongoing advisement and immersion at the undergraduate campus and TouroCOM. This advisement will include interview preparation support to facilitate successful completion of the TouroCOM medical school admission interview, which will be scheduled during the medical school application cycle prior to anticipated matriculation at TouroCOM.
  • Engage in multicultural volunteerism in healthcare with a focus on community health in order to better understand and value healthcare services to varied cultural backgrounds. A commitment to community service should be cultivated early on in a student's portfolio of interest and practice and be well documented through service activities.
  • Complete the Touro requirements for a Bachelor’s degree, including the following required courses, and which can be found on the TouroCOM website:
    • 8 credits Biology
    • 8 credits Inorganic Chemistry
    • 7 credits Organic Chemistry (3 credits of Biochemistry may count towards the total)
    • 8 credits Physics
    • 3 credits Mathematics
    • 3 credits Behavioral Sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, anthropology)
  • Take a minimum of four science elective courses:
    • 4 Credits Microbiology
    • 4 Credits Cell Biology
    • 4 Credits Biochemistry
    • 4 Credits Medical Physiology
    • 4 Credits Genetics
    • 4 Credits Immunology
    • 8 Credits Anatomy and Physiology
    • 3 or 4 credits Statistics
  • MCAT score of 507 or higher (taken after a minimum of four semesters of study).
  • Complete the TouroCOM application requirements.
  • Identify your intended start date for the professional phase of the track. Deferment and earlier attendance require permission from the Dean of TouroCOM.
  • Enter the professional phase within 48 months of matriculation at an undergraduate Touro University campus in the US. Deferment requires permission of the Osteopathic Medical School Dean.
