If you see yourself making a difference as a nurse, Touro’s Lander College of Arts & Sciences (LAS) is the place to start your journey. Our pre-nursing track is designed to help you complete the foundational coursework required for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Touro’s School of Health Sciences.
Choose Your Path to a Career in Nursing
Whether you’re applying out of high school, transferring from another college, or returning from seminary, Touro LAS offers more than one way to begin your journey toward a BSN — with the academic support and guidance you need every step of the way.
High Schoolers: Start Your Nursing Journey with LAS Support
If you're a motivated high school senior with a clear goal of becoming a nurse, Touro LAS offers a supportive starting point. You’ll begin your college experience by completing liberal arts and science prerequisites in small classes with professors who are invested in your success.
Once you’ve built a strong foundation at LAS, you can apply to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) offered at Touro’s School of Health Sciences. While admission is not guaranteed, LAS students receive personalized advising and support to help you stay on track with course requirements and prepare for nursing school.
Current LAS Students: Apply to the BSN Program at SHS
Already enrolled at Touro LAS and interested in nursing? Once you’ve completed the required prerequisites, you can apply to the BSN program at Touro’s School of Health Sciences Nursing program and continue your journey toward becoming an RN.
In addition to completing the required coursework, students applying to the BSN program must take and achieve a qualifying score on the ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills), a national nursing school entrance exam. Your LAS advisor will help you plan ahead and prepare for this important step.
Prerequisite Course List for the BSN Program
To qualify for the BSN program at the Touro School of Health Sciences, you’ll need to complete the following courses while a student at Touro LAS:

Once you complete the BSN program, you’ll be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) — the standardized exam required for Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in New York and other states. Passing the NCLEX-RN opens the door to licensure across the country and allows you to begin practicing as a professional nurse.
Your BSN also sets the stage for pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and other programs in advanced practice nursing, administration, education, and beyond.
Final admission to the School of Health Sciences is at the sole discretion of the SHS Admissions Committee and requires successful completion of all requirements and prerequisites. For more information about admissions requirements, visit Touro’s School of Health Sciences website.

FAQs
Can I complete my BSN in just three years?
It’s possible to complete your BSN in three years, but only if your schedule aligns exactly right. Completing your BSN in three years requires starting LAS in the summer and taking both summer semesters to complete key science prerequisites. This is not guaranteed and depends on your placement, course load, and timing. Your academic advisor will help you explore whether this option is realistic for your situation.
What is the Accelerated All-Women’s Cohort?
This is a specialized program designed for post-seminary women pursuing high-demand careers like nursing, OT, and ABA. Students complete a one-year undergraduate experience in an all-women’s cohort and then transition directly into graduate or professional programs. Learn more about the Accelerated All-Women’s Cohort.
Do I complete all my undergraduate coursework at LAS?
No. You start your general education and science prerequisites at LAS — in a supportive, Torah-aligned environment — and then apply to Touro’s School of Health Sciences to complete your BSN.
Do I need to take Biology I and II before Anatomy & Physiology?
In most cases, yes. Touro LAS requires students to complete Principles of Biology I and II before enrolling in Anatomy & Physiology I and II. This sequencing helps ensure you have the foundational knowledge needed for success in more advanced science courses. Your advisor will help you plan the right timeline based on your placement and academic goals.
As a Touro LAS undergrad, am I guaranteed admission to the BSN program at SHS?
No. Admission is competitive and based on completion of prerequisites, academic performance, and other application factors. However, LAS advisors are here to help you stay on track and prepare a strong application.
