Grants & Scholarships

Grants and scholarships are additional sources of financial aid that you do not have to pay back.

Grants are money that doesn't have to be repaid and is usually based on financial need. They are available from federal and New York State governments. To apply you need to file a FAFSA  and a TAP application to receive New York State Aid.

There are a number of federal grants that are automatically awarded to students who submit a FAFSA

Federal Grants

Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant program is a need-based entitlement program available to students pursuing their first undergraduate degree. To be eligible, students must be enrolled for at least three credits and demonstrate financial need. Amounts awarded can change yearly. For the 2021–22 award year (July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022), the maximum award is $6,495. The amount you get, though, will depend on

  • your financial need,
  • your cost of attendance,
  • your status as a full-time or part-time student, and
  • your plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG)

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants are awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate extraordinary financial need relative to other applicants at the institution, with priority given to Pell Grant recipients. Awards are based on availability of funds and are granted at the discretion of the institution. FSEOG awards at Touro College range between $100 and $2,000 per academic year.

Touro College Scholarships

Touro College provides over a million dollars in scholarships and grants annually. Students must apply each year to receive any kind of need-based aid, including the Presidential Scholarship.

Need-based Scholarships

Touro Dean’s Scholarships

Maximum Annual Award: $3,500

Dean’s Scholarships may be awarded to students whose tuition costs are not covered through other financial aid awards. Touro College Grants

Maximum Annual Award: $1,600

Touro College Grants may be awarded to students whose TAP and Pell awards do not cover their tuition. Students may qualify for a combination of need-based grants and academic scholarships.
