FAQs About Career Services

When should I start using career services?

It’s never too early to meet with an advisor. Some students reach out in their first semester to start exploring options, while others wait until they’re ready to apply for internships or jobs. We recommend connecting early so we can help you build a strong foundation and take advantage of every opportunity along the way.

Do I need an internship to graduate?

Whether or not you need an internship to graduate depends on your major. Some programs require internships for credit, while others only strongly encourage internships. Either way, internships are a great way to gain experience, build your resume, and make connections in your field. We’ll help you find the right fit and make sure you meet any academic requirements.

Can career services help if I’m planning to move out of the NY area or make aliyah?

Yes. We’ve worked with many students who plan to relocate, whether that’s outside of the tri-state area or to Israel. We can help you explore remote options, international job boards, or career paths that align with your goals.

I’m applying to graduate/medical/law school. Should I talk to career services or my academic advisor?

Both! Academic advisement will help you choose the right courses, plan your prerequisites, and navigate application logistics. Career services can help with personal statements, interview prep, and connecting your academic path to long-term goals.

How do I access the job board?

We use Handshake, a nationwide job and internship platform designed for college students. You’ll get access as a Touro LAS student and can start searching anytime. If you need help setting up your profile or finding the right filters, we’re happy to walk you through it.
