Psychology (Honors Track Available)
Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. Are you excited to learn why people think, feel and act as they do? If understanding human nature excites you, as an intellectual challenge or as the basis for your chosen profession, then a degree in psychology is for you. you will learn the mechanics for perception, learning, and social interactions and how humans develop these skills across the life span. What happens when something goes wrong and what tools are available to help? A Psychology degree can be a foundation for successful practice in many fields and for a deep understanding of your own human experience.
The Department of Psychology sees as its mission both the preparation of future mental health professionals and the teaching of psychology as a branch of the liberal arts and sciences. In its first role, the department provides students with the knowledge and skills to prepare them for graduate work. In its second role, the department aims to prepare educated individuals to grasp the relevance of psychology and think critically about inherent psychological phenomenon affecting individuals, communities, andsociety at large.
